Nevada Police Foundation
Supporting WCSDPD Police Cadets

The Nevada Police Foundation, in coordination with the Washoe County School District Police Department, is embarking on a fundraiser for the School District’s Junior Cadet Program with the goal to raise funds support the programs needs such as uniforms/safety/training equipment for use during classroom activities, scenario trainings, and community events, and most importantly to send the cadets to Washington D.C. in May 2026 for the National Police Week ceremonies. This trip will allow cadets to honor fallen police officers, deepen their understanding of the sacrifices made in the line of duty, and engage with the law-enforcement community.

The Cadet program is a youth initiative that promotes responsibility, leadership, and a commitment to public service. Comprised of high school students from across Washoe County, the program provides hands-on experience in law enforcement, civic engagement, and community outreach while preparing these future leaders for careers in public safety and beyond. The current cadre of Cadets is comprised of students from the Academy of Arts, Careers and Technology, Damonte Ranch, Hug, Reno, McQueen, and TMCC High School. They come from diverse backgrounds, cultures, and socioeconomic experiences, but they share a common passion for learning about law enforcement and serving their communities.

Supporting this project helps us provide a meaningful, real-world educational experience that these students will carry with them into their future careers and lives.
