Adam Garcia

Adam’s distinguished career began as a police officer in Michigan, where he quickly rose through the ranks to become Police and Fire Chief in a Detroit suburb. In 2002, he transitioned to a leadership role at the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) as Chief of Police. In 2019, he was promoted to Vice President of Public Safety Services at UNLV, where he led the university community through the tragic active shooter event in 2023, which claimed the lives of three faculty members. His leadership and resilience during this crisis were widely praised.

In addition to his vast experience in law enforcement, Adam holds two master’s degrees in Criminal Justice and Political Science and is a graduate of the prestigious FBI Academy. After a long and impactful career, he retired from active police services in July 2024, and became the NPF Executive Director in March 2025.
